WEARING: Bearded Beagle (vintage) sweater, Hot Topic tights, Dr. Martens boots, Forever 21 necklace, Urban Outfitters sunglasses
Hello and happy Spring Break (or should I say, Spraaaang Breaaak)! I know I'm a bit late, but I wanted to share some of my Spring Break-inspired looks before I go up to San Francisco and get back to infinite layers. Surprisingly, my beloved LA weather has been strangely windy lately, not the usual Spring warmth that I so carefully prepared for. That being said, I tried to dress accordingly while still embracing my favorite season's arrival.
This terribly cliche, but I start grabbing anything pastel as soon as Spring arrives. Spring is such a happy and sunshine-filled season, I just feel like it must be celebrated with the few colorful pieces I actually own. One of them, and a new piece in my wardrobe, is this delicious sweater-dress I scored from Bearded Beagle a few weeks ago. It's unique, muppetlike fuzz and candy coated color made it irresistible to me, especially when my mind started racing with the endless layering possibilities. But, me being me, I had to toe-dip into girliness by throwing on edgy accessories. I immediately reached for this old fishnet tights, something about the 80's feel and contrast against the soft pink sweater seemed to make them 2016 acceptable. The natural pairing with fishnets was my Docs, another ingredient to toughen up the shell tone. My only remaining touches were a bold golden necklace and round sunnies.
Let this be a lesson to you: color is NOT something to shy away from. In middle school I wore head-to-toe pastels and in high school I immediately declared myself as grunge, but here I am mixing a little bit of both and absolutely loving it. Find little ways to make colors or trends mold to your style, you will be 100% comfortable while confidently venturing out into uncharted territory. I wish you luck!
